Maybelline: Soda Pop Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches!

Hi Friends!

I am so excited to be talking about the Maybelline Soda Pop Eyeshadow palette today! I was so drawn to this palette – the color selection looks beautiful and I have been so obsessed with purples and browns right now. I was really impressed with the Maybelline Lemonade Craze palette and this one appeared to be very similar to it so obviously I wanted to try it!

Just like the Lemonade Craze palette, this one comes with 12 shades and retails for only $10.99! Out of the 12 shades, there are 6 shimmery shades and 6 matte shades. And like I mentioned above, I really love the color selection. I think it’s a really beautiful palette. The top appears to be more of a orange, warm toned and the bottom appears to be more purple, maroon shades. I love the variety.

Let’s jump into the shades! In the top section, you have:

Chilling – This is a light cream matte shade. This and Ginger Ale are very similar to each other. They both can be used to set an eyeshadow prime or as a soft transition shade.

Tonic – This is a very soft cream shimmer shade. It looks slightly gold in the pan but it doesn’t appear like that on the eye or in the swatch. It is somewhat sheer so I used it over a couple of other shimmers and I really liked the way that looked.

Sugar High – This is a rust shimmery shade. It’s a really nice shimmery shade but doesn’t come off too reflective on the eyes. I think this type of shimmer is pretty as a “transition” shimmer. Something that doesn’t go all over the eyes but does help a lighter shimmer shade blend into a darker crease.

Ginger Ale – This is a very similar shade as Chilling, it almost seems a little softer but not by much. Honestly, I don’t think this palette needed both Ginger Ale and Chilling. I wish they would have put in another shade to add even more variety to the palette.

Crushing – This is a beautiful true orange matte shade. It appears super bright in the pan but really it doesn’t pack that much of a punch. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the way it looks on the eyes. I think its actually a wearable shade and seems really fun for Halloween!

Cola Float – This is a warm brown matte shade. I think it is a really pretty brown to deepen of the crease. I think you could even wear it just by itself. I like it!

And in the bottom section, you have:

Soda Fizz – This shade has got to be the prettiest shade in the palette! When I swatched this shade, I nearly cried, it was so beautiful and SO soft! Soda Fizz is a metallic taupe shade. It’s really pretty but it does have a bit of fall out. (It’s so worth it though).

Grape Pop – This is also a really pretty shimmer shade. It is a bright purple. I think this shade is a lot of fun to play with and I am really glad they included a bright color like this.

Blue Raspberry – Unfortunately, I am not thrilled with this shade. It is almost like a matte with a glitter in it. It really isn’t a shimmer shade though. It is a dark midnight blue color which just doesn’t excite me.

Cherry On Top – This is a berry purple matte shade. I like this shade, I don’t see myself getting a lot of use out of it but I do still like the shade itself.

Cherry Cola – This is a metallic cranberry / cherry shade. I think this is a really pretty shade too! I wouldn’t wear this shade all over my lid but I like it as just a hint of color.

Root Beer – And lastly, this is the darkest shade in the palette – it is a dark matte brown shade. I am glad they have a dark shade in this palette to deepen up the other v. This shade is just okay, its not the best dark brown shade that I have ever used but it is still a pretty decent shade.

So, I have been using this palette all week so I feel really comfortable with all the shades. Overall, I think it is a great palette! I think it is an EXCELLENT fall palette especially if you are on a budget and want something less expensive. You get a lot of variety. Even just looking back on the swatches, you can see how the top of the is mostly warm notes, oranges and browns. Those colors are great all year round! And then the bottom of the palette has rich purple, berry, and brown shades. Those are just a lot of fun shades to mix it up sometimes!

I 100% recommend this palette! I know I will be getting a lot of use out of it and I definitely see others getting a lot of use out this type of palette too. Also, I just noticed on Maybelline’s website that this palette is supposed to smell like soda pop and it does! Its very very faint, you basically have to put your nose right up on the palette but that is kind of cool. I like scented makeup sometimes!

Let me know doesn’t below what your thoughts are on the Maybelline Soda Pop palette! What is your favorite go to fall palette? I would seriously love to know!
