Today we are talking about the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions eyeshadow palette! This year I am doing a 19 eyeshadows in 2019 challenge for my “Pan that Palette” and this is one of the first eyeshadow palettes that I included! I have already been getting pretty good use out of it and I figured I would go ahead and share my thoughts on it!
Huda Beauty brilliantly released several 9 pan “obsession” palettes not too long ago. The Mauve Obsessions was one of the first ones to come out. I say these were brialliantly released because I think it was a great way to reach a broader market at a lower price point. Huda Beauty’s full eyeshadow palette are REALLY expensive so these are great if you are interesting in trying something from the brand but not really wanting to break the bank.
Each obsession palette retails for $27 and comes with 9 eyeshadow shades and a mirror! Out of the 9 eyeshadows, there is 6 matte shades and 3 shimmer shades.
This is a very compact eyeshadow palette. I love the size, especially with how many shades are included. I think it is great that they also included a mirror because this is very travel friendly. On the front of the palette it has a picture of the 9 eyeshadows on it so you can see the colors of the palette. It’s a pretty cute little palette!
The Shades and Swatches
I wish there were names for the shades because it would be easier to identify each one. But we will try it anyways, starting from the top left eyeshadow and then going left to right.
In the first row, you have:
Eyeshadow #1 – This is a dark purple toned burgundy mauve matte shade.
Eyeshadow #2 – This shade is a shimmery light pink with coral undertones.
Eyeshadow #3 – The third shade is the lightest shimmer in the palette. It is a light pinky / peach shade.
In the second row, you have:
Eyeshadow #4 – This is a glittery dark pink shimmery shade.
Eyeshadow #5 – This shade is light taupe matte shade.
Eyeshadow #6 – This a medium mauve matte shade.
In the third row, you have:
Eyeshadow #7 – This is a dark grey plum matte shade.
Eyeshadow #8 – This is matte cream white shade.
Eyeshadow #9 – This is a red toned burgundy matte shade.
I LOVE the way these shades work together, you have everything you need to make beautiful mauve eyeshadow looks. I like that Huda Beauty included a base shade, a few transition shades, a few shades to deepen up a look, and shimmers to top it all off!
My Final Thoughts
This palette is GREAT! As I mentioned above, I think the shade selection is great. I don’t think anything is really missing from this palette. Every shade was well thought out so although, there are only 9 shades, you can really get a LOT out of this palette.
The quality is also fantastic! Sometimes when brands release less expensive palettes or smaller palettes, the quality is not as good as their larger ones but I think this one is just as good as The New Nude palette from Huda Beauty. Very similar quality, easy to blend, pigmented, and beautiful!
I particularly like the mattes in this palette, I have been reaching for the 6th shade A LOT. But the shimmers are also really beautiful.
I HIGHLY recommend this eyeshadow palette if you are interested in the New Nude palette but don’t want to cough up the money for it. You can still get beautiful pinky looks for HALF the price. Plus it is a good introduction to Huda Beauty if you are interested in that as well.
Let me know down below if you have tried any of the Huda Beauty Obsession palettes? Which ones are your favorite? I would LOVE to know!
