Hi Friends!
You all know by now that I will try ANYTHING when it comes to clearing up my skin. Over the past couple of years, I have had horrible acne despite taking extra care of it. One of the products that I had heard so many good things about was the Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil.
I had heard from several people (online of course) that it was expensive but worth it. So I purchased the “Sunday Riley Martian Set” which included this oil and two other items in the same line. Because it was included in a set, I only have a mini version.
Product Details & Benefits
As I already mentioned, this oil is really expensive. There are two sizes available on Sephora, a .5 oz (mini version) which is $40! The full size is 1.18 oz and retails for $80!
Key Ingredients:
- 1.5% Salicyclic Acid which “clears congested pores, treats and prevents acne and blackheads.”
- Tea Tree Oil and Black Cumin Seed Oil which helps “purify the skin and supports clarity.”
- Licorice Root and Hexylresorcinol which “naturally brightens the appearance of dark spots”
If you couldn’t tell by now, this oil is supposed to solution for:
- Acne and blemishes
- Blackheads
- Pores
Beyond curing all your acne problems, Sunday Riley also claims that this oil with smoothen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The Packaging
The packaging of the face oil is pretty nice. The jar is a thick, heavy duty glass. Then of course, there is a label on the front and back with information about the product but nothing crazy glamourous.
You dispense the product through a long stem dropper. It is actually a great dropped because you can really control the product and dispense exactly how much you want. You only need about half a dropper to cover your entire face. Also, I’ll note that there is a slight smell to it. I don’t mind but I know other people have complained that it smelt like dirt. It disappears after you rub into your skin though!
My Review
After reading all the claims and benefits, doesn’t this sound like a miracle product? They really know how to sell you and make you think that this one product is going to be the answer to all your problems. And don’t get me wrong – its not a horrible face oil but its not a miracle product either.
I did notice some improvements with my skin. I felt like the redness was fading but I definitely still had acne the entire time while using this. It was almost frustrating while using this because I wanted it to work so much better than it did. I feel like they had so many claims and had the ingredients to back it up but it really wasn’t a miracle.
I really don’t recommend this product for the price. If you can buy it in a set and get some value with other products, then it might really work for you. Everyone’s skin type / needs are different so I am not saying that this won’t work for you but just keep in mind that it doesn’t work for everyone.
Let me know down below if you have tried this U.F.O face oil? What did you think of it? I would really love to know!
I’m sorry it wasn’t as great as they hyped it to be! 😦 I hate buying expensive things in case I’m disappointed 😢

I guess thats why Sephora’s return policy is so great! If you really don’t like something, you can just return it! Its hard with skincare because you usually have to use it A LOT before you can notice a difference and then usually you can’t return it though.

Right! Skincare takes a long time to see if it will do what it’s supposed to.

I’ve never tried the UFO face oil (or much of anything from Sunday Riley), but it really sucks when products don’t live up to the hype… especially expensive ones.
My go-to prestige skincare brand has been Drunk Elephant (the TLC Framboos is my holy grail product for improving texture), but I’ve also been loving the Caudalie Brightening Serum lately.

It does really suck when products overall don’t live up to the hype. I actually didn’t have a great experience with the DE TLC Framboos (not a bad experience but not a miracle product for my skin). I have heard great things about Caudalie though!
