Origins: Ginger Greats Set Review!

Hi Friends!

Today I have something a little bit different to review. We are talking about the Origins Ginger Greats set. I picked this set up at TJ MAXX shortly after the holidays just because it looked like a fun set of items to spoil yourself. I haven’t tried a lot of Origins’ products so this was also a good way to be introduced to the brand. The reason I say this is a little bit different than my normal reviews, it because its not all makeup!

This set includes:

  • 1 Feel Good Candle
  • Ginger Burst Body Wash
  • Ginger Essence Sensuous Skin Scent
  • Ginger SoufflĂ© Whipped Body Cream

The set was $35 at TJ MAXX but I think it initially retailed for around $70. Pretty expensive either way!

Ginger Souffle Whipped Body Cream

As you can tell from the name, this is a whipped body cream that is supposed to moisturize and smooth your skin. Origins particularly recommends using this body lotion after a back or shower on damp skin. It has a VERY whipped texture to it, meaning it is lightweight but thick at the same time. It has a very strong ginger and citrus scent to it so I think its great for summer time. Its not my favorite scent, I prefer something more floral but it doesn’t smell bad by any means.

Origins claims this body cream has “skin-nourishing Olive, Grape Seed, Rice Bran, and Apricot Kernel Oils” that “invisibly surround skin in a cream cocoon of softness” (This description kind of makes me laugh).

I definitely enjoy using this body cream – It is moisturizing and soothing. I feel like I am pampering myself just a little bit every time I use it. It you are into ginger scents then this body cream is really nice!

This body cream is available on Origins’ website and retails for $37.

Feel Good Candle

Origins Feel Good Candle | Tayler's Edit

SOOOO this candle is really cool. The container is made out of a recycled wine bottle and the candle is 100% soy wax. I love that it is inline with Origins’ mission and values. I don’t think I have seen a mainstream brand so committed to being earth-friendly. A recycled wine bottle is perfect for a candle so I think that is really cool. The scent is a mixture of ginger, bergamot, and clove.

Unfortunately, this candle is not that great. When you are up close and personal, you can smell it but as soon as you light it – the scent kind of disappears. In fact, David was excited that I pulled out a new candle so he lit it and I had no clue! It was pretty disappointing to say the least. I am not sure if my candle was just old so that is why it lost its scent or it just isn’t good to begin with.

The ginger Feel Good Candle retails for $34.

Ginger Burst Savory Body Wash

Origins Ginger Burst Savory Body Wash Review | Tayler's Edit

The scent of this body wash is lemon, lime, and bergamot – Origins describes it as “tangy ginger” which I think is pretty accurate. Like the body cream, its not my favorite scent. You can smell it while in the shower but it seems to fade when you step out. It is a thick formula but soft and soothing at the same time.

After using this body wash, I used the body cream and it did feel like a luxurious experience over all – definitely relaxing! I would be interested in trying other scent from Origins because I like the body wash, just not the smell so much (but truthfully I wouldn’t spend $26 on it).

This ginger body wash retails for $26.

Ginger Essence Sensuous Skin Scent

Origins Ginger Essence Sensuous Skin Scent Review | Tayler's Edit

The last item included in this set is the Ginger Essence Sensuous Skin Scent, which is a really long name for a perfume. Origins’ describes this scent as a blend between “spicy Ginger with refreshing Bergamot, Lemon and Lime to create the perfect balance between warm and cool, energy and calm.”

Again, this isn’t my favorite scent. It isn’t horrible but it definitely isn’t something I would ever reach for. I definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing this to work or out with friends. I will probably end up using it as an error refresher. The scent doesn’t last a long time either though.

The full size bottle of this skin scent retails for $61.50 (very specific price).

Origins: Ginger Greats Set Review | Tayler's Edit

So there you have it – my thoughts on all of the items in the Ginger Greats Set. I am impressed with the overall value of the set – after looking up the prices, these items are really expensive. But I will never really get the full value out of them because I don’t like the scent. I will definitely use up all of these items and enjoy the body wash and body cream to a certain extent but I wish I liked all of these items just a little bit more.

Let me know down below if you have tried any of the Origins’ Ginger Greats items! What do you think of the scent? Also what other items do you like from Origins? I haven’t tried very much from them so I would LOVE to know!
